Putting the Fun back into Fundamentals!
In this session we will be playing with posture, connectivity, power transfer and feel to get more from a fixed blade and to find more effective ways to approach our boat handling.
Andy Oughton
Andy is a well known and highly respected Canoe Coach and Coach Educator. Based in the middle of the UK he is always off on his travels by canoe in all directions. Andy was founder and part of the team who paddled the Bliss Canoe Trail in 2017, over 800 miles round the inland waterways of the UK. www.blisscanoetrail.co.uk
He can normally be found sharing his experiences and knowledge at all good canoe symposiums or helping out with getting more people paddling at his local activity centres.
When Team Hou is 'on tour' Andy can often be found after a day on the water 'testing the wine' and cooking up great meals with Grant in what ever kitchen facilities we find :-)

We will be running workshops from 10am on Saturday 11th May and Sunday on 12th
May at Racquety Farm. That’s What3Words location ///growth.wings.turkey
Most of our workshops will be on site, but we will also have trips down the River Wye, and on Saturday 11th May, our whitewater clinic may be entirely off site.
We will have an open door policy all weekend. Everyone registered will be most welcome, but so will any family and friends who come along to take a look.
We welcome dogs wherever practicable, and wherever a dog’s presence isn’t making others uncomfortable. This includes in our on-water workshops
If you’re booking an on-the-water workshop, you will generally need your own canoe and paddling kit – though whitewater canoes may be available by prior arrangement.
If you wish to try our boats, please contact us and book onto our demo session. We MAY be able to make additional arrangements, but these MUST be pre-booked!
Individual boats may be reserves for specific times (please contact us), and the entire fleet will be available Saturday afternoon from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
If you have a paddle and personal paddling kit, please bring it along. At the very least, you will need appropriate clothing and a change of clothes.
On a sunny day, anything bring that can get wet. Perhaps try a t-shirt, shorts and old trainers. At other times, consider adding a fleece and/or a windproof layer.
Please bring everything you need, or allow time for a visit to Hay on Wye. During the day, visitors should be able to find a café, takeaway, restaurant, or supermarket.
We anticipate many guests booking to camp at Racquety Farm. Places are limited.
Please contact the site directly via https://www.racquetyfarm.com/
